Shaine's a labour day baby and 1 year ago she made mummy to go into labour and made the gynae work. Her 1st birthday this year, mummy and Ah ma had to work extra hard too. Crisis appeared 10 days prior to Shaine's 1st Birthday when Lele had chicken pox. Mummy didn't want to keep me at home and leave me out from Shaine's 1st Birthday. As such, the initial guests list had to be reduced as chicken pox is contagious.
BBQ food, cake, cupcakes and Jelly have all been ordered and mummy has to call to reduce the quantity and amount of food initially ordered. Well, that's a small crisis and there's ample time to prepare. Everything went as planned, we checked in on 30 April 4pm and had a mini gathering for Ah Gong's childhood friends. About 15 of them came and they chat till 2.08am. *Yawn* Shaine and I were already Zzzz-ing...
Ah Ma woke up early int eh morning to clear the place, prepare breakfast and were ready to go to the market to collect all the bbq food that she had ordered the previous day. Then came the Aloha Loyang staff distributing a letter. Mummy thought it's a routine lwelcome etter like those in the hotel. To mummy's horror, the letter stated that government is taking over the chalets cos of the swine flu and everybody has to leave Aloha Loyang within the next 1 hr ie before 10.30am. The adults almost fainted cos all the food are already ordered and there were still some leftover food from thursday BBQ, the charcoal, the ice, satay, otah, chicken wings, sotong, prawns, mutton etc etc are ALL in the fridge. Where are we going to find another place for BBQ within such a short time frame and it's a public holiday and most probably other chalets will be fully booked as well. Mummy went to the reception and asked the staff if they can give us another alternative venue but the staff said no but a full refund will be given within 6-9 week but we need a place for bbq! There was another uncle and aunty there at the reception and facing the same situation. The staff took down their hp no. and said will revert. They called at about 10am and said sorry no other alternative venue and said it's the instruction from the gov that we have to leave. Mummy was damn pissed and told the Aloha Loyang staff to get the PMO(Prime Minister Office) staff to come and see her. So same the Deputy Director from PMO and Mummy told her that it's almost impossible for us to get another venue and how many 1st birthday Shaine will have and so much time and effort was put into planning for the party and now just ask us to leave cos gov taking over the area and we had to leave? The Deputy Director suggested a bbq pit at the park but Mummy said we are 2 young kids and we need toilet facilities, water supply and a resting place. She said she will come back to Mummy again. 10 minutes later, she was back and said she will offer us Aloha Changi Chalet A but we can only check in after 3pm cos they need to get ready on the other side. Well well, at least we managed to have another alternative venue but then it's a mad rush from 10.30am till 3pm. We packed all the stuff and went back to Bishan. Ah Ma then quickly went to the market to collect the bbq food. The initial plan was Ah Ma and Ah Gong go market to collect the food from market then bring them back to the chalet and 老姨s will come down to help prepare the food. Now all the food has to be brought back to bishan to prepare and rush down to check in at 3pm.
The new chalet was double storey with 3 bedrooms on the 2nd level and 1 bed room on the 1st level. It's big too and pretty near to the beach.
Anyway, the birthday proceed smoothly and many thanks to all those who make an effort to find their way to the abit "ulu" Aloha Changi Chalet A. And lastly many thanks for all the gifts. ;)
